Village Kids

Welcome to Village Kids! We hope to have the opportunity to get to know you and your family and enjoy life together in the community. Our missional multicultural kid community meets weekly for worship, teaching, and friendship. We exist because God first loved us and out of our love for Him, we want everyone to have the opportunity to know Him, love Him, serve Him, and worship Him. Our goal as a ministry is to introduce children to Jesus and help them in their journey of becoming Christ's followers.

We offer two weekly opportunities for biblical teaching and discipleship, on Sunday through our programs for nursery, early childhood, and K-5th grade, and on Wednesday evenings through our Awana discipleship program.

Our Amazing Volunteer Team

Volunteers are the heart of our ministry to kids. Our exceptional team of adults enjoy all kinds of kid stuff, love to laugh, and have a passion for helping children know their God who they love and serve. If you love Jesus and are looking for a fun, meaningful way to serve Him, consider joining us in Village Kids.

By the way, parents and guardians are some of our best volunteers. Not only do they model to their kids how to serve others, but they also pick up some skills and ideas when it comes to family discipleship.

Application and background check consent are required. To volunteer or receive more information, contact us at kids@villagebeaverton.com.

We are delighted to have your child spend time in our nursery where our loving staff faithfully care for our little ones. Your child is precious to us, and we strive to provide the best care possible. Our purpose is to share the love of Christ by providing a safe and loving environment for your child. Our exceptional Nursery staff are trained and CPR certified.

Check-in Specific to Nursery
Check-in for infants through 3 years of age (still potty training), is located on the same level as the nursery. Along with checking in through KidCheck, we ask parents to also sign a registration sheet on the nursery counter where you may leave us any special instructions regarding your child.

One of our nursery staff will greet you at the counter and make sure your child is safely in the nursery. Windows are located on both the nursery and toddler areas so you can watch your child at any time. Please keep your cell phone readily available throughout the morning, as we will text you should your child need you.

When picking up your child, please come to the nursery counter and give the attendant your security tag. Your child will be brought to you - we ask that parents not go into the rooms to get their child. No child will be released without a security tag.

Contact Ruth Jones for more information about infant through 3-year-old care at Village.

Supplies to Bring

• Please bring a minimum of 3 diapers. Your child will be changed/checked every hour (and more if needed).
• A cup or bottle for your child. We only offer toddlers water to drink.
• A complete change of clothes.

Kindly label all items with your child's name (i.e. diaper bag, bottle, cup, pacifier, clothing).

Well Baby Policy

Along with the safety of your child, we strive to maintain a high standard of hygiene in the nursery/toddler area. Since little ones are very susceptible to a variety of germs, we have adopted a well-baby policy. Please do not bring your baby or toddler to the nursery with any of the following:

• Fever (must not have had a fever for the previous 24 hours)
• Diarrhea and/or vomiting
• Runny nose or eye discharge
• Undiagnosed or contagious rashes
• Flu symptoms: listless, no appetite
• Any contagious disease

If your little one should become ill during the service, you will be contacted immediately.

Nursing Moms

Next to our main Sanctuary is a warm, inviting, and private space set aside specifically for our nursing moms. A large screen TV is available in the room so you can still follow along with the worship service.
Early Childhood is a time for exploring, learning, and growing. Our Sunday mornings are filled with toys, learning activities, songs, Bible Stories, and volunteers devoted to providing a safe loving environment for our children ages 3 years (fully potty trained) through children 5 years of age (who are not yet in kindergarten). Teaching children God loves them is the beginning of what we hope will be a life-long journey with Him.

We enjoy using Orange curriculum that provides a variety of creative pathways to discuss biblical truth with our children aged three through 5th grade. To learn more about Orange curriculum, visit their website

Video Lessons

Our high-energy Sunday elementary program aims to share the love of Christ in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Games, culture, science, and art are integrated into our large and small group format designed to present biblical truth with an emphasis on real-life application. Sundays are opportunities for kids to celebrate, be inspired, and be challenged to love God with all their hearts.

Village Kids Midweek Small Groups - Awana

Awana is Village's midweek discipleship ministry where kids grow in their walk with God through worship, teaching, and spiritual mentoring in a small group environment. The purpose of Awana as an organization is to give children an opportunity to know, love, and serve Jesus, no matter their background and to train leaders able to lead children to Christ.

In our 2024-2025 year, we are pleased to offer three Awana groups.
  • Sparks (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade) Sparks ignite the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. Team building games, engaging stories, and small group time based on their week book section allow for growth socially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
  • Truth & Training or T&T (3rd - 5th Grade) teaches kids the truth of God's Word, and trains them to follow Him and practice His grace. By encouraging kids to engage in highly biblical and highly relational discipleship, small group leaders help students to grow and develop as lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Timothy Program (6th grade) - Registration is available for children entering 6th grade who have completed all 3 years of T&T handbooks and would like to complete their 4th book to earn the Timothy Award. We do not offer an Awana program for 6th graders, but invite them to attend our Village Middle School Youth group which is also on Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm in the Willamette rooms.

Registration

Registration for the 2024-2025 Awana program is now closed and programming has begun. We may have a waitlist for your child's age group. Email us if you're interested!

Meetings

Awana meets Wednesday nights, 6:30-8pm, during the school year. One year of Awana meets from mid-September through mid-May.

All parents must have a KidCheck account. Our digital security system will print a child’s name tag and a parent security tag uniquely coded. The adult picking up the child must have this code at check-out. KidCheck provides a mobile app for easy check-in/check-out.

Awana ministry partners

Small group leaders are an integral part of our team. Adults committed to leading a small group of children on a weekly basis are integral to our ability to disciple children. We have an amazing team of ministry partners who invest weekly in their group of kids with intentionality and loving care. If you are interested in joining our great team of small group leaders, please contact us.

Sunday Check-In Procedure All Ages

Your child's safety is our top priority. We use an electronic check-in system, KidCheck to register each child. Every family needs a KidCheck account which can be set up at go.kidcheck.com. When asked where the account will be used, select Village Church in Beaverton.

On Sundays, check-in is located near your child’s program location. We have helpful volunteers available to answer questions. For your first visit, we invite you to arrive early so we can assist you in the check-in process.

After checking in electronically, your child will receive a name tag and a parent-assigned security tag. Please keep your cell phone available as we will text you should your child need you. Parents or guardians must have their security tags to pick up children. Children are not released to siblings.

For all age groups, Sunday check-in begins 20 minutes prior to the start of the worship service. The K-5th grade check-in station closes 15 minutes after the service begins. Elementary-age children arriving after check-in is closed attend the adult service with their parents (an exception is made for first-time guests).
